Here is my first completed painting of 2021. Thanks goes out to local Fredericksburg photographer Ed Dinep for capturing the beauty of this historic property and allowing me to use his image for inspiration.

When I started do these painting studies, my initial plan was to get loose and try to not be so tight with my brushstrokes. For a brief moment yesterday, I realized how tight I was painting and then ignored myself. Much of my time while creating this piece was spent listening to the day’s events unfold. I’m not sure the order that I took or my thoughts behind my color choices. I just sat at my easel, mixed paint, and tried to make sense of the day.
