This one time...at the grocery store...there was this bok choy. It looked at me from across the produce section and gave me a wink. “Oh hey there. How are you doing? Do you come here often?”

I wasn’t intending to buy bok choy on this trip, but this beauty made its way into my cart nonetheless. I brought it home and spent an hour or so photographing it, trying to capture all of its amazing qualities. I was smitten with it.

This was back in fall 2019. I decided this image had waited far too long for attention, so I decided to finally paint it.

For this painting, I wanted to play with color. I decided to go with an analogous color scheme and experiment a bit. While painting, there was one point where I decided to just paint over large sections with one color. It was getting too tight and I didn’t like where it was going. The finished piece is more simplified with a little bit of an abstract feel.
