I spent a good amount of time working on this painting. I kept walking away from it, thinking about things to adjust, and then changing course only to change my mind yet again. My goal was to play with contrasting colors to communicate the warmth of the sun against the cold found in these winter months. Working with a popular landmark in the downtown Fredericksburg area, allowed me to stray away from realistic colors without losing the building’s recognizable characteristics. I ended up learning a lot with this study.
