If you look through my progress pics, you will see what looks like me trying many different things. I started off going in one direction and then ended up with something completely different and unexpected. As I was painting, objects weren’t looking right to me and neither were the colors. I kept shifting shapes and changing colors trying to figure out which way to go.
I think once I painted the sky blue, I chose to go with a limited color palette that would complement a turquoise sky. Yellow/oranges for highlights...Red/violets for shadows...and blue/green for anything else I felt like making that color.
In the end, I found more success in simplifying objects down to their geometric shapes. The end result is definitely more abstract than anything else I’ve painted so far. I am calling this once done.
